On the road again or shall I say in the air again- it’s been a little more than a month and I’ve been fortunate enough at work to not have to fly to any meetings. It is hard to say whether or not it gets any easier for me. I was pretty nonchalant and unbothered until takeoff but ow that I’m in the air, I’m feeling pretty anxious and nervous. The weather is cloudy and rainy and it’s January – 3 factors I don’t love. Fortunately, I’m only flying to Chicago from Baltimore so the flight will be relatively short. I just wish it was a little shorter – like to Cincinatti or Detroit instead. Our flight was delayed about 40 minutes which means I’m a little more tired and bored from sitting around the airport longer than anticipated. I opted to eat my dinner before I got on the plane since I usually eat dinner at 6 or 6:30 pm and I would be in the air at that time. I’ve decided that I should try to stick to routines as much as possible. This looked like a small dinner of a 1/2 vegan chick pea wrap at hummus with pretzels and a seltzer water, which I usually drink after work. I also plan to have some hot tea during the flight and fruit when I get to Chicago. We booked our flight late so I got stuck in a middle seat. To make matters worse, my bag had to be placed in an overhead compartment more than several rows back so I will likely be the last person off the plane because I will have to wait for everyone to get off before I can navigate back to my bag. I knew that was a risk with getting a seat closer to the front when I was part of boarding group 4. Now we are at 10,000 feet and through the bumpy clouds and rain and I hope to sit back and watch Elvis on United’s free in-flight entertainment until we land in Chicago where there is a light costing of snow. Tomorrow night I will do it all again when it is time for me to fly back to Baltimore.
