School Lunches

Now that school is back in session, it’s time to start packing lunches every weekday. My husband has graciously volunteered and taken on this task for the last few years. Partly because he is very particular about things in the kitchen and cooking and meal prep on general. Still, I realize that packing 3 lunches is a big task. The kids are always reluctant to try school-provided lunch in the cafeteria. The contents of their lunches has been a bit of a mystery to me so I didn’t feel like I could step in to help out as much I wanted to. He seems to have a system about what goes into each lunchbox, and I didn’t know how to crack the code. Now that school has started, I would scribble down each girl’s items as he packed their lunches so I could help him the next time. By the end of the week, I was able to grab each girl’s favorite fruit, granola bar, or other snack when he needed it. This helped cut the time we needed to pack three lunches in the morning in half. I know this whole post probably seems like a no-brainer but sometimes you are just going through the motions and not aware of how things could be done differently.
